‘Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.’ (1 Timothy 4:16)
That was the Apostle Paul’s advice to his protégé Timothy. It is advice we’d do well to heed too. Weekend Extra is a chance to watch both your life (the actions of a redeemed persons) and your doctrine (the thinking of a redeemed mind). A range of 75 minute courses are on offer to help you persevere & grow in the Christian life. Some courses will lean more to improving skills – others to stretching your mind – but all will help you stay closer to Christ and be effective for Him.
Weekend Extra is on 11 September from 9:30am-12:30pm. Before you come, have a look over the options below, then sign up for your preferred course in each session (to help us allocated spaces for each course).

- Passing on the faith: discipleship (run by Steph Menear). Christ’s call was to follow Him - and so much of the Christian life is not merely taught, but caught. This session is a chance to learn more about how to invest in relationships, centred around the Word, that will help others to spend a life following Jesus.
- Living hospitality (run by Simon Jackson). Hospitality is far richer than just having friends over for a meal. Christian hospitality is the invitation to open your life to strangers – making them friends. Learn how to make this the pattern of your life.
- How did we get the Bible (and why can I trust it)? (run by Dave Irving). We know we believe ‘because the Bible tells me so’…but how did the Bible come to be & what do I say to my friends about its reliability?
- Digital discernment: using new technology and social media to the glory of God (run by Steve Kryger). Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, podcasts, blogs, forums - we have more opportunities to connect and communicate than ever before. Wisdom is needed to discern the risks and maximise the opportunities.
